Welcome from the Headteacher
A very warm welcome to High Green Primary School, our Small School with a Big Heart. I am the incredibly proud Headteacher and I am delighted that you have taken the time to visit our website.
At the heart of our school is a shared vision:
To become the best version of ourselves.
This vision underpins everything we do and is lived out through our core values:
Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Kind and Be Proud.
These values are not just words, they are part of our everyday language, shaping our relationships, guiding our behaviour and creating a culture where every child can thrive.
At High Green, we believe that education goes far beyond academics. Our love for outdoor learning is a key part of this. We are incredibly fortunate to have unique spaces including our woodland, allotment and secret garden, which we use as vibrant, hands-on classrooms. Through experiences such as Forest School, our children are encouraged to explore, discover, use their imagination and develop a deep connection with the world around them.
We are proud to offer a holistic education that nurtures the mind, body and spirit. Our strong focus on music and physical education enriches our curriculum, promotes wellbeing and helps to build confidence, creativity and teamwork.
We also place great importance on providing wider experiences beyond the classroom. Our pupils benefit from a range of enriching opportunities including swimming, gymnastics, horse riding, fishing and even ice-skating. Carefully planned school trips are used to launch and bring learning to life, helping children to fully understand and engage with their topics in meaningful, memorable ways.
Family and community are at the centre of our school. We pride ourselves on our open-door approach, building strong, positive relationships with pupils, parents and the wider community. We want every child and every family to feel a true sense of belonging, where they are supported, valued and heard.
We are also passionate about developing pupil voice and leadership. Our pupils take on a wide range of leadership roles across school, including School Parliament, Reading Champions, Wellbeing Ambassadors and Climate Ambassadors. These opportunities empower children to take responsibility, contribute to school life and understand that their voice matters. Through this, we are preparing our pupils not only for the next stage of their education, but for the world they will grow into and be an active part of.
Alongside this, we are deeply committed to inclusion and wellbeing. Our dedicated nurture and intervention space, The Nest, along with our sensory room, The Burrow, provide calm, supportive environments where children can regulate, reset and receive the support they need to be ready to learn.
As a small school, we know our children well. This allows us to ensure that every child feels safe, happy and ready to learn each day. Our nurturing environment enables pupils to grow in confidence, develop resilience and reach their full potential.
We are also committed to preparing our children for the future. As a climate-conscious school, sustainability is woven throughout our curriculum and daily life. We aim to empower our pupils to care for the world around them and become responsible, informed citizens who can make a positive difference.
We invite you to explore our website to discover more about our dedicated and hardworking teachers, remarkable pupils, and supportive school community, including our governors. Take a moment to browse our class pages, gallery, and exceptional curriculum.
We eagerly anticipate welcoming you into our community and embarking on this incredible journey together!
Warm regards,
Mrs Lucy Harding
